Aurora Boveridge College is our exciting new further education college that will be opening in September 2017 in the stunning former country estate of Boveridge House. Located in the village of Cranborne near Wimborne in Dorset, the site is currently undergoing an extensive multi-million-pound refurbishment project.
When it opens later this year, Aurora Boveridge College will offer unique, dynamic and purposeful education programmes which take into account uneven learning profiles for students with Asperger’s syndrome, High Functioning Autism, Anxiety related conditions, ADHD, Acquired Brain Injury and other Mental Health conditions. Qualification levels will range from entry level 2 up to and including level 3 (A levels).
All study programmes involve an academic or vocational course in Land Based Studies, Horticulture, IT, Engineering, Hospitality and Catering and Sport. In addition, all students study Maths and English, Life skills (including vital independence skills) and attend work experience.
As a teacher at Boveridge College, you will be responsible for the high quality of teaching and learning of all students who are assigned to you, having responsibility for their progress, welfare and outcomes. You will also supervise the work of any support staff, who are assigned to work with your students.
We will also need you to have an up to date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework within which teachers work. This will include implementing college policies and practice, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
As a crucial member of the team you will need to provide leadership across the college in a designated subject or curriculum area, which will include:
monitoring quality and standards
contributing to college planning and self-evaluation
providing professional support to other teachers and support staff
advising the Vice Principal on appropriate resources and materials
leading appropriate professional development.
