Support Worker 

Location: Verwood, Dorset

Salary: £8.25 after probation or £8.75 with a relevant qualification.

Hours: We have the following contracts available:

  • Term Time Contract (38 weeks) Fulltime over a standard rota pattern to including some weekends averaging around 42 hours per week.

  • 52-week contract, fulltime over a standard rota pattern to including some weekends averaging around 42 hours per week.

Important: A full UK driving licence is required.

Aurora is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special needs and disabilities. We are currently looking for Support Workers to join our specialist residential and day college in Dorset.

Aurora Boveridge College sits within the beautiful Dorset countryside, within extensive grounds and is attached to a Grade 1 listed building. The college was opened in September 2017 after a complete redevelopment of the site and grounds. The beautiful and modern environment supports young people aged 16 – 25 with autistic spectrum conditions including Asperger’s syndrome, social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders and mental health needs. The college offers a range of academic and vocational courses leading to employment, further or higher education.

This is a tremendously exciting place to work. The college is growing quickly and the friendly and dedicated team are looking for passionate people join them in developing the college into an outstanding provision.

The Role:

As a Support Worker, you’ll be helping individuals to live the lives they choose and to ‘empower them to grow’. We are looking for candidates who are passionate in supporting young people to learn and prepare for the future.

This may include learning practical skills like cooking, cleaning and budgeting and also supporting young people to manage their anxieties or social difficulties. 

Regardless of your experience level, here at Aurora Boveridge College we will work with you to develop your skills and confidence in the role. Every support worker is given an extensive induction which includes group based classroom training, two weeks of shadowing and ongoing training once you’re confident enough to take on your role on your own.

  • Level 3 Diploma or equivalent in Health and Social Care. Qualifications in Residential Childcare may also be considered.


Relevant knowledge and experience of special needs environment(s) is desirable along with understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection and/or DOLs procedures.
