Salary: Salaries in line with teacher’s main scale (M1 £22,917 – M6 £33,824)

Do you like the idea of being part of something from the start?  Aurora is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special needs and disabilities and as part of our growth strategy we are looking for experienced SEN Teachers at Redehall School.  

Aurora Redehall School is a specialist day school for children who experience challenges with communication and social interaction.  Many also have difficulties with behaviour and managing their emotions.  The school supports students aged 6-16 years with communication difficulties typically associated with Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism.  The school opened in September 2017 and has created an environment conducive to learning for this specific student profile, designed to help them re-engage with learning and enjoy school life.

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career whilst you help shape and develop our provision to achieve this. As well as developing and delivering personalised learning, you will work with colleagues to support pupils with their daily routines, transitions and positive behaviour management.

As a teacher you will be responsible for the high quality of teaching with responsibility for their progress, welfare and positive outcomes.  You will have an up to date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework within which teachers work. 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Provide leadership across the school in a designated subject, pastoral or curriculum area, to include:

·       Monitoring quality and standards

·       Contributing to school planning and self-evaluation

·       Providing professional support to other teachers and support staff

·       Advising the Head Teacher on appropriate resources and materials

·       Leading appropriate professional development.

Qualifications:

  • PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.

Experience:

  • Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.

  • Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with pupils with autism.

  • Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with a wide range of needs.
