Pupils Admission Administrator

Salary: Up to £22,000 per annum

Hours: Fulltime – Term Time

Location: Aurora Redehall School, Redehall Rd, Smallfield, Nr. Horley,Surrey, RH6 9QA

The Role:

Aurora Redehall, is a special needs day school in Surrey, for pupils aged 6 to 16 years who have complex language and communication difficulties associated with Asperger’s Syndrome and autism. They may have challenges around their emotional and mental health that create barriers to learning and impact on their behaviour. 

As part of the schools continued growth strategy we are now looking for a Pupils Admissions Administrator who will be responsible for pupil administration, including enquiries, referrals and registration. Other duties will include reception and telephone duties, welcoming visitors, diary management and taking deliveries.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be first point of contact for enquiries and referrals from Aurora commissioning and placements team.

  • To liaise with parents, staff and outside agencies with regards to all pupil related meetings, visits, etc., including arranging Review Meetings.

  • To liaise with the Designated Person for Child Protection regarding any concerns for pupil welfare.

  • Maintain the Schools information system with pupil & family details.

  • Ensure that all registers are up to date and follow up any unexplained absences.

  • General administration to type correspondence or documents as requested by other members of staff.

  • Monitoring school emails and forwarding / answering as appropriate.

  • Covering Reception and telephone, welcoming visitors – ensuring correct procedures are followed.

  • Receive, open, check and inform School Business Manager of goods delivered.

  • Undertake any other additional duties, which are reasonably commensurate with the role, as required.


  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy (at least 5 GCSEs [or equivalent] above C to include English and Maths).

  • Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role for at least a year.

  • Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint (desirable) and ability to use range of databases once trained

  • Accurate typing, touch typing desirable.

  • Ability to be discreet, confidential and reliable.
