Roald Dahl Day at Eccles School

Last month Eccles School held their first themed day of the new school year - Roald Dahl Day. While the actual Roald Dahl Day was several weeks earlier, this did not hinder the spirit of the staff or pupils who on the whole enjoyed a change to normal timetable. There were stunning costumes worn by many (including staff) with prizes being awarded across all year groups the following day.

Sessions throughout the day included creating George's Marvelous Medicine in the science lab, making Minpins in the silver birch plantation, learning about Roald Dahl's past in History, creating some Quentin Blake style artwork in the Craft Block, creating some revolting rhymes in Creative Writing and exploring the young people's dreams as collected by the BFG in English.

The kitchen staff cooked up Violet Beauregard's three-course chewing gum meal - tomato soup, roast beef & jacket potato and finally, blueberry pie and ice cream. We then finished the day with the modern adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate factory on the big screen."
