Salary: £3,000 per annum (£15,995 fulltime equivalent)

Hours: 7.5 per week (1.5 hours per day, term time only)

Location: Smallfield, Surrey (close to West Sussex border)

Aurora is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special needs and disabilities. We are currently looking for a Midday Meals Supervisor to join Aurora Redehall School.

Aurora Redehall School is a specialist day school for children aged 6-16 years with communication challenges and associated difficulties which are typically associated with Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism. The school opened in September 2017 and has created an environment conducive to learning for this specific student profile, designed to help them re-engage with learning and enjoy school life.

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Midday Meals Supervisor to be part of our school team supporting children with special educational needs.  If you enjoy working with children and have a positive approach to helping them feel safe, secure and happy then this could be the job for you.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

The Midday Meals Supervisor is an important support to the teaching staff with responsibility for supporting students during lunch break with their food choices and behaviour and contributing to development of their independent living skills. Duties include:

  • Working as part of the team supervising students and monitoring behaviour during the lunch break.

  • Ensuring that the overall dining arrangement for students promotes an orderly and pleasant meal experience for all, having regard to special or additional needs

  • Supporting students in their independent living skills.

  • Ensuring the dining area is clean and tidy ready for the school’s afternoon activities.

Qualifications:

  • Good verbal communication skills.

  • Organised, good time management.

  • Able to work as part of a team.

  • Ability to be discreet, confidential and reliable.

Experience:

Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential, as is previous experience working with children with special educational needs.
