Learning Support Assistant
Location: Meldreth, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border
Salary: £13,746 to £16,097 dependant on experience
Hours: Term time, 35 hours per week
Aurora is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special needs and disabilities. We are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join Aurora Meldreth Manor School.
Meldreth Manor provides education, care and therapeutic support for children and young people who have severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties resulting in complex learning needs.
The service, and the neighbouring Aurora Orchard Manor, are currently undergoing a multi-million-pound redevelopment that will completely modernise the living and learning environments.
As part of our next phase of development the team are looking for talented and dedicated people to join their team. The Meldreth Manor team have created a warm and friendly work environment, where new team members are made to feel comfortable and welcomed from day one.
As a Learning Support Assistant you will be supporting the pupils with not only their education but also with their emotional needs and behavioural challenges. In school, you will carry out a range of duties, supporting all elements of learning from basic life skills through to academic achievement and personal development. The role will require you to be creative, patient and adaptive. Every child we support is unique and they will require an individualised approach to ensure that each of them has the opportunities to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment including in the local environment and within the community
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Helping young people with a range of needs, including PMLD, complex medical conditions and autism to achieve their educational and personal goals
Supporting an environment that fosters equality, diversity and the rights of all young people to be seen as learners and be treated with respect
Placing an emphasis on support and empowerment of young people
Developing a greater understanding of disability issues and the values of Aurora and demonstrating these in the work
Providing high quality support in all aspects of the work
Learning Support qualification/Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent
